Application

Used in manufacture of organic products: 2,4-diaminophenol, 2,4,6-trinitrophenol and sulfur dyes.

Appearance, properties

Light yellow to yellow crystalline powder. On careful heating sublimates without decomposition. Slightly soluble in water : 0.56 g in 100 g of water at 18°C, 4.3 g - at 100°C. Well soluble in organic solvents: benzene, alcohol, ether, chloroform. Sensitive to shocks, explodes on detonation and sharp heating to high temperatures. Do not allow to dry out during storage.
